Maj. Wilhelm Stratmann, USAF Ret., 84, of Snap Creek Court, passed away peacefully Tuesday April 22, 2014, at Richard Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home in Anderson. Born in Schwerte Ruhr, Germany, he was the husband of Ramona Diane Thrasher Stratmann and a son of the late Wilhelm and Ottilie Mertens Stratmann. He attended college at Syracuse where he earned a BA degree. He proudly served his country for over 20 years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Gretchen Kolb of Newtown, PA and Susanna Stratmann of Simpsonville; a son, Wilhelm F. Stratmann of Simpsonville; a sister, Christel Zimmerman of Germany; 3 grandchildren, Caroline, Chloe and Alexandra Kolb; and 2 nephews, Klaus and Bernd Zimmerman.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Stratmann.
The family would like to thank the staff at Richard Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home for their care of Mr. Stratmann during his stay there. And a special thanks to friends, Jim White, Ret. Col., of Greer, Bruce Lake of Hayworth, NJ and Gunter Fischlein of Blofeld, Germany.
