Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Mahaffey will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Vernon Floyd Mahaffey, 87, of 600 Old Norris Road, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Liberty he was a son of the late Sylvester and Essie Carpenter Gilstrap Mahaffey. He was a retired supervisor from Greenwood Mills and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Mahaffey was a lifelong member of Calumet Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Duncan Mahaffey of the home; two sons, Billy Mahaffey(Janis) and Terry “Ted” Mahaffey(Darlene) both of Seneca; a brother, Rev. Jack Mahaffey of Easley; grandchildren, Jason Gillespie of Easley, Kimberly Mahaffey of Seneca and Staci Gilbert of Greenwood; and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Faye Mahaffey, a sister, Hazel Mahaffey, and four brothers, Stan and Heyward Mahaffey, and J.B. and Glenn Gilstrap.
Memorials are requested to Calumet Baptist Church, 400 S. Peachtree Street, Liberty SC 29657.
