Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Vera Merck will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Calumet Baptist Church. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at the church.
Vera Stewart Merck, 88, of 103 Blackbottom Road, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Magnolias of Easley. Born in Pickens, she was the widow of Horace Merck and a daughter of the late John Mack and Edna Clardy Stewart.
She retired from Woodside Mills and was a member of Calumet Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, and doing arts and crafts.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Don Kelly of Liberty, and Susan and Jerry Bolding of Pickens; a brother, Bill Stewart of Liberty; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, D. Mack Kelly, Jr. and his wife Tina, Vickie Kelly Juan and her husband Agustin, and Nicholas Bolding and his wife Erica; 6 great grandchildren, Noah and Will Kelly, Gabbie and Sophie Juan, and Kylie and London Bolding.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Annabell Gilstrap, Velma Pilgrim, and Geneva Taylor, with five brothers: James, Clyde, Lester, Paul, and John Stewart.
