Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Rice will be Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at the mortuary.
Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic and CDC guidelines, limited seating will be available and social distancing will be observed. The family request for everyone to wear a face covering. If you do not have one, one will be provided. Sara Jane Dickard Rice, 89, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Liberty, she was the widow of William Charles “Bill” Rice and a daughter of the late Raymond Roy and Evelyn Tipton Dickard. She worked at Judson Mill as well as the Farm Bureau where she served on the Executive Board and the Ladies Committee. She was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Finley(John), of Easley; a brother, Henry Dickard(Donna), of Liberty; and three sisters, Martha Hughes, of Greenwood, Nancy Bowen(Jerry), of Easley, Dorothy Coggins(Bobby), of Travelers Rest.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Dacus.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Vett, Jennifer and Angie of Hospice of the Foothills for their care that was given to Mrs. Rice during her illness.
