Roger L. Whitman, 64, of 409 Spring Street, died Thursday at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Cateechee, he was the husband of Judy Wilson Whitman and a son of the late Curtis Herbert and Sarah Kathleen Gaines Whitman, Sr. He was retired from BASF. He always enjoyed helping others and he grew up attending Cateechee Church of God.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Laurie Whitman Addington and her husband Andrew of Cateechee; a son, Brian Whitman and his wife Angela of Central; a sister, Shirley Bagwell of Gray Court; 7 brothers, Curtis Herbert Whitman, Jr. of Cateechee, Carl Whitman of Greensboro, NC, Rev. Raymond Whitman of Six Mile, Gary Whitman of Cleveland, TN, Terry Whitman of Lincolnton, TN, Mike Whitman of Liberty and Ted Whitman of Easley; 4 grandchildren, Zoe and Drew Addington and Paris and Grayson Whitman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
