Funeral services to honor the life of Rev. Davis will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Reverend Larry Jackson Davis, 91, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Greenville, he was the widower of Mary Ellen “Bo” Gillespie Davis and a son of the late Rev. James Andrew and Sue Etta Owens Davis.

He was a longtime member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. During his over 50 years of being a minister he pastored churchs throughout the entire state of South Carolina.

Rev. Davis was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War.  He was an avid Clemson sports fan.

Surviving are daughter, Amy Bott (Jeff) of Easley; two grandchildren, Chelsea Nobrega (Artur) of Liberty, and Kenley Knott of Liberty; one sister, Alta Mae Davis Bowen of Elko; also surviving is a great granddaughter, Amelia Bo.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Davis.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Flat Rock Baptist Church, 115 Slab Bridge Road, Liberty SC 29657.

We have such good memories of Larry, Bo, Mark and Amy, from the time when Larry was attending Baptist College, in Charleston. He was called to be the pastor of Adams Run Baptist Church. My parents John and Margaret Wood, were members there, Mark was just a toddler and Amy was just barely walking. We got to be very good friends, and loved to hear Larry preach. Years later, we attended and joined Earlewood Baptist Church, in Columbia, SC, when Larry was pastor there. I have so many good memories of our senior trips to Myrtle Beach. Larry was a fine Christian gentlemen. It was a pleasure knowing him. He was the pastor of Elko Baptist church for many years. I was raised in Williston which was 3 miles north of Elko and had fond memories of the residents. It was a farming community and there was a lot of truck farming for watermelons. I nicknamed Larry "Elko" and had good fun remembering characters from Elko. My thoughts and prayer are with the family. "Well done thy good and faithful servant"
