Rev. Jack Norris
Six Mile, SC
Reverend Jack Nelson Norris, a devoted family man, peacefully departed from this world on September 6, 2023, at the age of 83 at St. Francis Hospital. Born on May 21, 1940, in Danville, VA, he was the loving husband of the late Nell Nicholson Norris and a son of the late James Jesse and Jessie Mae Richardson Norris.
He worked diligently as a truck driver in the interstate commerce industry, employed by Observer Transportation, where his strong work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of his colleagues and countless friendships. Following his career as a truck driver he retired from the Pineville Police Department where he worked as a dispatcher.
Outside of his profession, Jack had a passion for ham radio operations, proudly identifying himself with the call sign “W4TWX.” This hobby connected him with a diverse community of individuals who shared his enthusiasm for both technology and communication.
Jack’s journey also led him to serve as a pastor at numerous churches, including Independent Bible Baptist Church of Pineville, NC, Solid Rock Baptist Church of Pineville, NC, and Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Fort Mill, SC. His faith was unwavering, and his dedication to spreading love and compassion through his ministry touched the lives of many.
Jack’s legacy will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Leitzsey of Six Mile, and his son Joseph Hyatt (Dannette) of Williamston. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kassi Leitzsey (Clint) and Jesse Leitzsey (Deana) and his adored great-grandchildren, Jaden Leitzsey, Paizlee Leitzsey, and Kimber Cook. He is also survived by a sister, Bobbie Moore, and his nephew, Jack Costner.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Moore and Nadine Smith, and a brother, Thomas Norris, and a son in law, Horace Leitzsey.
Funeral services to honor Rev. Norris’s life will be conducted 12:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the mortuary.
