She was born Nannie Lou Gulledge to parents, George C. and Lillian Polk Gulledge, March 4, 1931. On February 28, 2015 she went to meet her heavenly father after a brief stay in Linville Courts at Cascades Verdae.
She graduated from Furman University with a BA in education. She then received a MA from Appalachian State University with a specialty in reading. Before her retirement in 1996 she had a career as a teacher, teaching in Columbia, SC, Fayetteville, NC, Miami, FL and Taylors Elementary in SC. She served in various capacities of the professional organization, NEA.
She was a member of Edwards Road Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving her Lord in various capacities including the Senior Choir. She also served on the Good News Club Team which is an after school program for elementary school students.
She is survived by her sister, Jerome Martin (Benny); a niece, Michele Tucker (Bobby); a great nephew, Devin Tucker; and a great niece, Shannon Tucker Cunningham (Drew).
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Thomas Hugh Price.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Edwards Road Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Private interment will be held at a later date in Lancaster Memorial Park.
