Miriam Joy Simmons, 88, of Pickens, South Carolina, died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Fleetwood Rehabilitation Healthcare Center.

Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ernestine Hendricks Simmons.

She worked for many years at Alice Manufacturing and later retired from Mayfair Mills. After her retirement, she worked numerous years for Plan Home Healthcare.

Joy was an avid gardener, loved to sew, and also played the piano.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Eugene Nalley (Jan).

Surviving are 2 daughters, Anita Clayborn Moore of the home, and Antha Dorr (William) of Easley; five grandchildren, Jimmy Clayborn, Talia Clayborn , Casey Nalley (Melissa), Tye Nalley, and Megan Ingram (Cameron); also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Raven, Zasia, Storm, Sabastin, Skyler, Charleigh, and Jack.

The family will host a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
