Funeral services to honor the life of Ms. Stamey will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 30,2022, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the mortuary. A private burial at a later date will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Seneca, SC.
Judith Madlyn Snelgrove Cannon Stamey, 93, of Alta Vista Drive died Monday, September 26, 2022 at her residence. Born in Seneca, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Clifton and Etolia Meredith Snelgrove. Ms. Stamey was a retired school teacher with the School District of Pickens County where she had taught at Cateechee Elementary School and Liberty Elementary School. She was a member of the Anderson Senior Follies where she enjoyed performing and loved her cats. Ms. Stamey was a longtime member of Liberty Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Pat Cannon(Deann) of Greenville and Mike Cannon(Rosalinda) of Townville; three grandchildren, James Cannon(Christi) of Charleston, SC, Jeanette Wood(Stewart) of Oak Ridge, TN and Clifton Cannon(Emily) of Madison, WI; and four great grandchildren, Benjamin and Caleb Cannon, and Eliza and Lily Wood.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Garven Cannon, Jr.; two sisters, Glynn Ksenzak and Grace Edgar; and a brother, Ralph H. Snelgrove.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Home Instead caregivers and Hospice Of The Upstate for all of their loving care and support that was given to Ms. Stamey.
