Carol Bates
Liberty, SC
With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Janice Carol Bates, a cherished soul who blessed our lives with her warmth and kindness, on February 25, 2025. Born on May 20, 1940, in Liberty, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late B. Bates and Frances Bates.
Carol’s journey through life was marked by devotion and service. After more than 25 years with Blue Ridge Co-Op, she retired as a beloved member of the public utilities community, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work that inspired many. A lifelong resident of Liberty, she became a pillar of strength and comfort to those around her.
One of her greatest treasures was her faith. She was a devoted member of Rice’s Creek Baptist Church, where she found solace and fellowship, nurturing her spirit and those of her friends and family. Within those beloved walls, she shared her love, laughter, and wisdom, creating an everlasting impact on all who knew her.
Surviving is a great nephew, Brian Garrett.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Garrett, and a nephew, Randy Garrett.
Graveside services to honor her life will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. No formal visitation is planned.
In the days and years to come, let us remember Carol not just for the days she walked among us, but for the way she touched our hearts and lived her life with grace and compassion. May her spirit continue to guide us, and may we hold her memory close, as we navigate the seasons of our lives.
Rest in peace, Janice. Your light will forever illuminate our memories.
