It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sandra Jane Dickson Cope, affectionately known as Sandy, who left us peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on August 13, 1963, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the wife of Mitchell Ray Cope and a daughter of the late James Milton and Sandra Herbert Dickson. Sandy lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories, particularly in her cherished town of Liberty.
Sandy was the heart of her family, devoted wife to Mitchell for an incredible 42 years, and an adoring mother to Brittney and Brent Cope. Her family was her pride and joy, and she loved nothing more than creating beautiful moments with them, whether it was soaking up the sun at the beach or cheering on the Gamecocks at football games. Sandy was a 1981 graduate of Berea High School, and her younger years were filled with excitement at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway, where she nurtured her love for racing and camaraderie.
After a 19-year career at Covidien in Seneca, SC, Sandy found joy in her role as a substitute teacher at Liberty High School for the past six years, where she inspired and cared for the next generation. Her passion for education and serving others shone brightly in all that she did. Sandy’s kindness and radiant spirit touched everyone she met.
In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived her children, Brittney and Brent Cope; her sisters, Libby Spencer and Jamie Carrington; her brother, Mike Dickson. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all.
The family will host a Celebration of Sandy’s life at 4:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2026, at Woodside Baptist Church, 301 Woodside Ave. Greenville SC 29611. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00 until 4:00 PM in the church sanctuary.
