Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Friday, April 15, 2022 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ruth Lay Stegall, 82, of Easley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Anderson Area Medical Center.

Born in Seneca, South Carolina she was a daughter of the late Jess and Viola Crane Lay. She retired from Collins & Aikman where she worked as a machine operator for many years.

She was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Cantrell of Easley, and Myra James (Terry) of Liberty; a son, Rusty McDonald (Pam) of Seneca; a sister, Dorothy Poore; a brother, Mason Lay; five grandchildren, Natasha James, Tiffany James, Courtney Bright, Taylor James, and Ashton McDonald; also surviving are five great grandchildren, Zander, Gabriel, Myles, Karsyn, and Joe.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 8 sisters, Pauline Murphy, Beatrice Kelley, Margie Phillips, Sara Lay, Ruby Dills, Carolyn Heaton, Mairion Pearson, and Sue Lay, and 5 brothers, Christoper, Clide, Verner, Rufus, and Ray Lay.
