Mildred Van Patton

Mildred Holtzclaw Van Patton, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the age of 102.

Born on September 29, 1921, in Greer, SC, she was the widow of Crayton Calvin Van Patton and a daughter of the late Lee J. Holtzclaw, Sr. and Eula Sudduth Holtzclaw.

She dedicated her life to her family and her career as a hairdresser. She was a long-time member of Greer First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Steve Van Patton and his wife Sharon of Greer; a daughter in law, Paula Van Patton of Greer; also surviving are four grandsons, Matthew Van Patton (Brandi), John Van Patton (Jennifer), Benjamin Van Patton (Amanda), and Jesse Van Patton (Jessica), and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Van Patton, a grandson, Jake Van Patton, a sister, Lucile Campbell, and three brothers, Lee J. Holtzclaw Jr., Frazier Holtzclaw, and James T. Holtzclaw.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer. No formal visitation is planned but friends and family may visit at Steve and Sharon’s home, 840 Babe Wood Road, Greer.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to a local charity in Mildred’s name. May she rest in peace, knowing she was cherished by many.
