Margaret Marie Goodwin Dawson, 66, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Northside Hospital in Canton, GA surrounded by her loving family. Born in Aiken, SC she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Doris Granberry Goodwin.
Prior to moving back to Georgia, Marie and Terry had spent the past couple of years in Florida where they made numerous friends.
She graduated from Judson College in Marion, Alabama and later received her education degree from Clemson University. Marie taught school many years at Lanier Elementary School. After her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated The Inn at Magnolia Oaks Bed & Breakfast in Clermont, GA. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren and they all will miss her loving smile and sweet spirit.
Mrs. Dawson was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Terry E. Dawson of the home; 2 sons, Freddie Willis (Margaret) of Greer, SC, and Timothy Dawson (Ashley) of Newnan, GA; 2 daughters, Sabrina Glenn (Tommy) of Seneca, SC and Laura Lasseter (Tim) of Flowery Branch, GA; 11 grandchildren, Rebeka, Brandon, and Parker Glenn, Elisabeth “Annie”, and Charlotte Lasseter, Cody and Cadence Willis, and Ryley, McKinley, Halley, and Brody Dawson; a brother, Bruce Goodwin (Dianne) of Port Clinton, OH.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sequoyah Chapter NSDAR, C/O Barb Foerst, 161 Fairway Court, #20430, JASPER GA 30143.
