Lucy “Pauline” (Hightower) Taylor Wooten Lackey Cash

Lucy Pauline Hightower Taylor Wooten Lackey Cash, formerly of Anderson and Pickens Counties, passed away on October 6, 2023 at the Simpsonville Post Acute following an extended illness.
Born January 2, 1942 in Oconee County, SC was a daughter of the late Harold Clinton Hightower and Lillie Mae (Wells) Hightower.
She is survived by three children; Kathy Louise (Joel) Laster of Newnan GA, Cassie Hill (born Sharon Ann Taylor) of Laurens SC, and Marvin Thomas Taylor Jr of Newnan GA; two brothers, John “Johnny” (Sandra) Hightower of Grand Rapids, Mich, and Walter (Melvis) Hightower of Marietta, GA; two sisters, Willie Mae Scott of Gassville, Ark, Marion Hightower Taylor of Mableton, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
When Pauline married Buford Clifford “Buck” Lackey he was a widower with several young children whom Pauline raised. Among her loving stepchildren, a special Stepson, Danny Ray (Debra) Lackey and a special Grandson, Dane Lackey all of Pickens, SC.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Hightower and Etrulia Hightower Blackstone.
Pauline lived a very simple life and was not of any specific religious faith, did not hold any level of formal education, and did not hold any type of conventional employment. She enjoyed home-making, puzzles, her morning coffee by the front window, and sharing stories of her upbringing.
Families are at their respective homes and will honor the memory of Pauline at their personal discretion.
