Judy King
Liberty, SC
Hilda “Judy” Ann Posey King, 75, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Judy was born in Liberty, SC on October 2, 1950, to the late Jack Clinton and Hilda Mae James Posey. She was an only child, but she grew up surrounded by a close and loving extended family on Posey Hill Road. After graduating from Liberty High School as Valedictorian, Judy went on to earn an Associate’s Degree as a Medical Assistant at Tri-County Technical College. Eventually she put her intelligence and skills to work in helping her husband to found King Asphalt; together, they built not just a business, but a legacy rooted in hard work and dedication.
However, Judy’s true passion was her family, and she eventually settled into her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Randal King; her daughter, Melanie Samples, and her husband, Chase; and her grandsons, Canaan King, Hendrix King, Cade Samples, Ezra Samples, and Avery Samples. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Michael King.
As a grandmother, she relished every moment spent with her grandchildren, actively participating in their lives and showing unwavering love and support. She was also a doting aunt to many much-loved nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed pursuing her many interests, including reading, horses, travel, boating, and Clemson Football.
A woman of faith, Judy was saved and baptized at Calumet Baptist Church as a child, but as an adult she was a longtime and exceptionally active member of Liberty First Baptist Church. She served in numerous capacities, including the WMU, Young at Heart, and as a children’s Sunday School teacher, demonstrating her commitment to her church family. She also served her community in many ways, including through the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Judy’s generous nature and true servant’s heart touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at Liberty First Baptist Church on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Judy’s life. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her son at Westview Cemetery in Liberty. No formal visitation is planned; however, the family will greet with close friends and family following the committal service at the graveside.
As we honor Judy’s life, let us carry forward her legacy of faith, love, and strength. She will forever remain in our hearts.
