It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Josie Ann Reed Hendricks, 85, of Liberty, South Carolina, who departed this life peacefully on July 7, 2026. Born on June 21, 1941, in Central, South Carolina, she was the widow of Morris W. Hendricks to whom she was married to for 65 years, and the daughter of the late William Robert and Essie Bryant Reed. Josie spent her life dedicated to her family and her community.
A proud graduate of D.W. Daniel High School, Josie devoted her career to the textile industry, working as a warper at the J.P. Stevens Dunean Plant. Her industrious spirit and commitment to hard work were evident in every aspect of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Calumet Baptist Church in Liberty.
Josie was an unforgettable presence in the lives of her family. She was a loving mother to her son, Robert Hendricks (Karen), and a doting grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Bagwell (Luke) and William Hendricks (Hailey), and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Hendricks, John and Claire Bagwell. Josie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her love for the outdoors, often seen fishing or camping, creating treasured memories with her family under the sun.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Michael Hendricks and two brothers, George and Johnny Reed.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held at a later date. A private inurnment will also be held at Westview Cemetery in Liberty. As we celebrate the extraordinary life of Josie Hendricks, we remember her warmth, her laughter, and her devotion to those she held close. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
