Harriett Davis Ellenburg Gibson, aged 80, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026.
Born on March 4, 1945, Greenville, SC she was a daughter of the late Harry W. and Ruby Ferguson Davis. She lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that life had to offer.
Harriett was a cherished member of her family and will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love and support. She is survived by her beloved husband, David Gibson, and her three daughters, Tani Clark (Rick), Clancy Cole (Randy), and Andi Cahaly (Craig); her stepdaughter, Ashley Huntley (Todd). She is also survived by her dear sister, Josie Amspacher and niece Riley, and eight grandchildren, Carmen and Eliza Cole, Nash, Collins, and Creighton Cahaly, Gibson, Emma, and Ella Huntley. Harriett’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family, who were her pride and joy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Ellenburg.
Harriett was a graduate of Liberty High School and was crowned the first Miss Liberty in 1963. A dedicated worker, Harriett served her community by working numerous years at Liberty Elementary School and Pickens County Educators Federal Credit Union. Her commitment to her work mirrored her dedication to her family-always striving for the best and making life a little brighter for those around her.
In her free time, Harriett found joy in the beauty of nature, often being seen tending to her flowers or swinging on her front porch. She enjoyed sharing daily phone conversations with her daughters and loved cheering on her grandchildren in all their activities. An immaculate home was her sanctuary, where she expressed her love through cleanliness and care. Harriett also had a special bond with her dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship.
Harriett’s visitation will be held at Liberty Mortuary on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.
The family encourages all who knew and loved Harriett to attend and honor her memory. Her vibrant spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed, but her legacy will endure in the lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
