Gail Brooks

Gail Stepp Brooks, a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished sister, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at home on December 24, 2023, in Seneca, SC.  A native of Hendersonville, NC she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Alma Rhodes Ballard.

Gail found great joy in tending to her yard, pouring her heart into creating a beautiful outdoor sanctuary. She took pleasure in cutting her grass and raking leaves and keeping her yard manicured.  When she wasn’t busy in her yard, she enjoyed gospel and country music, and she enjoyed trips to Dollywood.  You could always find her unwinding in the comfort of her home, spending time watching TV shows including Perry Mason and anything with Tom Selleck.

An active member of Utica Baptist Church, she was a longtime Sunday School Teacher alongside her husband, and found solace and strength in her faith. She valued the fellowship and support of her church community, consistently finding inspiration in every sermon and prayer.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 50 years, Don Brooks, her loving son, Barry Brooks, and her dear sister, Juanita Hernandez.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Stepp, and a brother, Hilliard Ballard.

To honor Gail’s remarkable life, a visitation will be held on December 30, 2023, at Utica Baptist Church in Seneca, SC, from 10:30 until 11:30 AM.   The funeral will follow at 12:00 PM at the church.  Burial will follow at Gap Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Six Mile.

Although Gail is no longer with us, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
