Frances Merck Sanders, a beloved member of the Central, South Carolina community, peacefully passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on November 8, 1936, in Norris, South Carolina, to the late Jule F. and Retta Swords Merck.
Frances was a compassionate and dedicated individual who touched the lives of many. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found joy in the little things. Whether it was solving intricate puzzles, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or cherishing time spent with her beloved grandchildren, Frances embraced each moment with love and appreciation.
Professionally, Frances was an esteemed administrative assistant in the textile industry, where she dedicated her talents to Woodside Mills. Her commitment and work ethic made her an invaluable asset to the company.
Frances will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her loving sons, Mike Sanders (Lynn) of Central and Marty Sanders (Sheri) of Easley, her cherished daughter, Cindy Sluder (Bobby) of Liberty, her dear sister, Mildred Pelfrey of Liberty and sister-in-law, Betty Merck of Norris, her 8 grandchildren, Lori Langston, Jeremy Sanders (Jenny), Matt Sanders, Melissa Pilgrim (Michael), Sheena Rampey (Jayme), Courtney Zuber (Michael), Ryan Sanders (Emily), and Chad Sluder, and 8 great grandchildren.
The legacy of her warmth and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A visitation to celebrate Frances’ life will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the Liberty Mortuary, from 10:30 until 11:30 AM. Following the visitation, a heartfelt funeral service will be conducted in the chapel at 12:00 pm, where family, friends, and community members will gather to pay their final respects and honor a life well-lived. In accordance with Frances’ wishes, she will be laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Liberty beside her husband. This serene location will serve as a final resting place, where she will find eternal peace alongside her loved ones.
