Wade Garcie Bruce, a beloved father, talented craftsman, and avid painter, peacefully passed away at the home of his daughter Leslie in Six Mile, South Carolina, on January 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born at home in Pickens County, SC, on May 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Waybus G. and Elsie Rackley Bruce.
He lived a life filled with creativity and love, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Wade found joy in a variety of pursuits; from crafting stunning Native American flutes to creating herbal remedies and mastering the art of bush crafting, his talents were as diverse as his interests. An avid gardener, he reveled in the beauty of nature, often spending countless hours nurturing his plants and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. His passion for painting allowed him to express his vibrant spirit and love of the world around him.
Wade was a dedicated Maintenance Supervisor for the Board of Disabilities, where he served his community with pride. He cherished the relationships he made there and worked tirelessly to support those around him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Leslie Miller (Jerry), Holly Bruce, and Ashley Wright, and his son, Alex Bruce. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. His warmth and creativity will forever be remembered in their hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Pace, and Evelyn Baker, and a great grandson, Beckham Bruce.
In celebration of Wade’s life, a memorial service will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday January 15, 2026 at Liberty Mortuary. The visitation will be prior to the service from 4:00 – 5:30 PM at the mortuary. Friends and family are invited to reminisce, share stories, and honor the joyful life Wade lived.
Wade Garcie Bruce may have departed from this world, but his spirit will continue to flourish in the hearts and memories of those he touched.
