Stephen R. Barrett, 69, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, in Clemson, South Carolina.

Born in Sanford, North Carolina on July 8, 1951, he was a son of the late Ralph Addison and Willa Boze Barrett.

Steve enjoyed playing football for Sanford Central on the 1968 Yellow Jacket Team (#84 Redbird), golf, old cars, his 1969 Satellite, volunteering with the Dixie Youth Baseball Association, the Red Fox Club, teaching the children Sunday School with Elaine and Elaine, going to the beach and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchilden.

Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Rogers Barrett of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Moore (Mike) of Six Mile, and Courtney Griffith (Brent) of Lynchburg; a son, Josh Barrett of Denver, CO; also surviving are seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Susan Barrett and Carol Barrett Barwick.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to First Baptist Church Hartsville, Children’s Ministry, 104 E. Home Avenue, Hartsville SC 29550, where he spent many years teaching Sunday School.

The family will host a private memorial in his honor at a later date.

Steve’s life verse was Joshua 1:9, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Dominion Senior Living and Crescent Hospice for their love and genuine care shown to Steve during his declining health.

Donna, I had not seen Steve for years but had reconnected with him through Facebook. I am so sorry to hear about his death. I have many fond memories of him, Susan and Carol. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

So saddened to learn of this. Spent some fun times with Steve & family when we were kids. His dad & mine both worked with A & P in those days & we would often visit each other’s homes. Parents would play Rook or Rummy while we kids did kid stuff. Good memories!

So many ways we remember Steve as uncle, grand-uncle, friend, and christian brother in faith. He was always endearing and loved stories, especially if he was in them! Really appreciated his attention to family, open arms, and ability to talk about anything from sports to the afterlife. My family was blessed - and miss his presence - yet know that heaven has him with those dear to him and smiling once again!

Praying for peace and comfort during this very difficult time. I worked with Steve many years ago (70s) at CP&L when we were in the Durham life Building. Great guy!

Steve was a co-worker of mine at the HB Robinson Plant. I enjoyed working with him and valued his contributions. But, best of all, I enjoyed playing golf with him because he was tough to beat!

So saddened to hear about the loss of Steve. His girls used to babysit my two years ago, and I can remember working with him like it was yesterday. My sincerest condolences to the Barrett family. Rest in peace, Steve.

Donna & family I was shocked to learn of Steve’s passing. He was a great friend! We spent many hours in QA talking about the families I felt I knew all of you from his stories. We spent many hours on the golf course too! My prayers are with you during this difficult time. Last time I talked to him he was so excited on the move to Six Mile & enjoying retirement with Donna & the kids. He was a good man & will be missed by many.
