It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sidney Eugene Church, Sr. on April 21, 2026, at the age of 62. A beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, Sidney was born on October 22, 1963, in Greenville, South Carolina, a son of Martha Godfrey Church and the late Johnny William Church, Jr..

Sidney was a man of simple pleasures and great joys. He found happiness in the gentle rhythm of nature as an avid fisherman, casting a line into the waters that brought him peace and tranquility. He cherished weekends spent visiting Jockey Lots and scouring yard sales for unique treasures. Above all, his greatest satisfaction came from the time he devoted to his family.

In addition to his mother, he was a devoted husband to Elizabeth Church and a proud father to his children, Katlyn Hedrick (Gary) and Sidney Church, Jr. (Christine); his stepchildren, Sally Hall, and Jason Turner.  His bond with family extended to his brothers, Bryan Church (Brenda) and Phil Church (Cathy), along with his sisters, Cynthia “Sally” Lark (Jerry), Tammy White (Bill), and Sheryl Lane, all of whom he treasured deeply.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Natalie, Lathan, Jase, Anastyn, M.J., Journey, Harleigh, and Evert.

He also took great pride in his home and yard, enjoying every moment spent cutting grass and keeping his surroundings beautiful. His garden was a reflection of his warm spirit, welcoming all who stepped through his door.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Church will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, April 27, 2026 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.  He will be laid to rest at Liberty Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 pm at the mortuary.

Sidney Church will be remembered not just for his passions and his dedication to family, but for the warmth that radiated from his heart. Though his presence will be profoundly missed, the memories he created will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he loved. May he rest in peace.
