A celebration of Mr. Cain’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 2, 2023 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.
Phillip Morrell Cain, 82, of Old Stagecoach Road, died Monday, September 18, 2023 at his residence. Born in Opp, Alabama, he was the husband to Mary LaCasse Cain for over 59 years and a son of the late Elbert Cain and the late Maggie Butler Walker.
Phillip was a retired United States Navy veteran having served in Vietnam and the Cuban Missile Crisis and later retired from Perry Correctional Institute. He was also a mechanic and had a passion for Volkswagen engines which he built and sold all over the continent. Phillip enjoyed camping with the Full Moon Bus Club as well as spending time with his family. He was also a life member of Bates Masonic Lodge #189, A.F.M.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Barbara Davis of Santa Monica, CA; a son, Phillip M. Cain, Jr. of Greenville; a brother, E. Ralph Cain of Pensacola, FL; a half-sister, Shirley “Charlie” Tolbirt of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Kara, Kaley, Cameron, Savannah, Jarred and Erica; several great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Levon Cain.
