It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathan Sherman Stephens, a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend. Nathan departed this life peacefully on September 20, 2026, at the age of 48, leaving behind cherished memories for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born on September 11, 1978, in Anderson, SC, he was a proud member of the Seneca Church of God, where he found community and strength in faith. Nathan was a 1997 graduate of Walhalla High School. Nathan’s warmth and kindness touched many lives, and he was always quick to lend a helping hand or share a joyful smile. That showed through his musical gift as the former praise and worship leader at Hosanna Christian Ministries. He loved to serve his community and show others his kindness and served as a bus driver for nine years with the School District of Pickens County. Most recently, he followed his passion for cooking where he cooked and mentored the boys at the Helping Hands Children’s Home.

A devoted family man, Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Janet Reynolds Stephens; his sister, Angel Sosa (Braxton); his mother, Patricia Watson Stephens; his father, John Stephens, Jr. (Marie); also surviving are his mother-in-law, Cynthia Reynolds, his sister-in-law, Sara Sturner (Jon), his brother-in-law, Jamie Reynolds (Bethany); nephews, Will and Chase, and nieces Katie and Leah.

Together, they will carry forward the legacy of love and laughter that Nathan embodied.

Nathan’s passion for life was contagious. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the South Carolina Gamecocks, and enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family. His love for music was equally profound; he was remarkably talented at playing multiple instruments, often filling the church and his home with beautiful melodies.

A celebration of Nathan’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Seneca Church of God. Family and friends are invited to join us for a service that reflects the joy he brought to our lives. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:45 PM in the Seneca Church of God Sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Helping Hands Children’s Home, PO Box 561 Clemson, SC 29633, in Nathan’s memory, ensuring that his legacy of kindness continues to impact the community he loved.
