It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Michael Leroy Ward, age 75, who departed this world on June 10, 2026. Born on April 18, 1951, in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Leroy and Juanita Taylor Ward.
Mike – as he was affectionately known – was a beloved husband, cherished family member, and proud U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mike’s journey took him from the small-town charm of Edgefield to a fulfilling career in the HVAC industry, where he dedicated his skills and hard work. After retiring, he enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, particularly spending joyful moments with his family, and his wife, Connie and her family.
An avid golfer, Mike found serenity on the course, or fishing on the lake, where he forged lasting friendships and cherished memories. His laughter and unwavering support were a source of strength and comfort to those who knew him. He exemplified the spirit of camaraderie and love, creating connections that will forever be treasured.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Connie Ward; a sister, Joan Hudson; his stepchildren, Terezia Garrick and Steven Nagy; his 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, and Eli Garrick; also surviving are numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Dawson.
We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Mike’s life and legacy at a memorial service to be held on June 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned.
In honoring his memory, let us remember Mike not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives and the memories we hold dear. His spirit will forever guide us, reminding us to appreciate each moment and cherish our loved ones.
