Mike Ensley
Easley, SC
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Douglas Ensley, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 73.
Mike was born on November 25, 1951, in Concord, North Carolina, a son of Lorna Ensley Winslett, and the late Harold Douglas Ensley.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1974, a period that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and camaraderie. He carried this spirit into his professional life, where he dedicated many years as a maintenance mechanic for Michelin, retiring to enjoy his family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, he cherished his time in nature. He loved deer and turkey hunting, and fishing his favorite spots. When he wasn’t enjoying the great outdoors, you could find him on the golf course, where he loved to share his passion for the sport with his “Golfing Buddies”. He also loved spending time with his beloved dog, Ruger.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Ellen Ensley; his two loving daughters, Andrea Demetrio (Daniel) and Robin Hawkins; his brothers, Jeff and Mark Ensley. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Carter Hawkins, Sofia Demetrio, Olivia Demetrio, Bella Demetrio, Reese Hawkins, and Jase Hawkins. Each of them holds cherished memories that will stay forever close to their hearts.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son in law, Chad Hawkins.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mike’s life during a visitation at Liberty Mortuary on July 10, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember him not only for his accomplishments but for the light he brought into our lives. His laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
