Services to celebrate Mr. Posey’s life will be private. No formal visitation with the family present will take place, however his remains will lie in state on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary. The livestream of his service will be available at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 on his obituary page at www.libertymortuary.com, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Lewis Ray “Bug” Posey, 71, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late William Ernest and Louise Perkins Posey.
He graduated from Liberty High School and had worked at Ohio Gear (Velvet Drive) for over 45 years. Mr. Posey attended Ruhamah Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Linda Patterson Posey of the home; 2 sons, Michael Posey (Kim) of Salem, and Kevin Posey (Lisa) of Pendleton; 2 brothers, Leonard Posey (Edith) of Liberty, and Steve Posey (Peggy) of Liberty; 2 sisters, Shirley Carver (Bobby) of Liberty, and Evelyn Burton (Donald) of Liberty; 2 grandchildren, Drew Christian and Keira Christain; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Larry, James, Ronnie, and Donnie Posey.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Cancer Institute-Grove
Prisma Health (checks would be made payable to) Office of Philanthropy, 300 E. McBee Avenue, Suite #201, Greenville, SC 29601. The family will be at their respective homes.
