Dean Alexander
Liberty, SC
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kenneth Dean Alexander, a loving father, dedicated veteran, and respected member of the community. He was born on July 15, 1944, in Newberry, South Carolina, and peacefully departed this life on October 23, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the widower of Vickie Alexander and a son of the late Fred Joseph and Mattie Lee Whitlock Alexander.
Dean served his country honorably in the United States Navy, enlisting on March 23, 1965. He was a proud Seabee, and he played a crucial role during his service aboard the USS Forrestal, a testament to his bravery during the tragic explosion that occurred on July 29, 1967. His commitment to service did not end with his discharge on July 17, 1967; it profoundly shaped the man he became.
Before relocating to Liberty, Kenneth was a faithful public servant in Jonesville, SC, where he served as Mayor for eight years and also held a position for many years on the Town Council. His leadership and dedication to his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Kenneth carried that same spirit of dedication into his career with Michelin Tire, where he worked as a Procurement Supervisor until his well-earned retirement.
He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, and previously Jonesville First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Prudence Masonic Lodge # 139 AFM. He was involved in the American Legion Post # 195 in Jonesville, SC.
He will be deeply missed by his family, including his beloved daughters, DeAnn Tucker (Richard) and Marah Alexander. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Erika, Kendra, Hailey, Sydney, Blake, Kennedy, Jacob, Blue, and Noel, and 11 great grandchildren, along with 2 very special nephews,
Jason and Nathan Alexander.
He instilled in them the values of service, integrity, and compassion, which will continue to live on through their actions.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Alexander.
Memorial services to honor Dean’s life will be conducted 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at the mortuary. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with his wife at Lee Cemetery.
As we remember Kenneth, let us honor the larger-than-life spirit he embodied. May his legacy of service, love, and community be cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church, New Building Fund, 115 Slab Bridge Road, Liberty SC 29657.
