It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Gene Taylor, who left this world on May 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on June 19, 1939, in Pickens, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Jack and Sallie Hawkins Taylor.

Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who lived a life filled with warmth and love.  He had an affinity for old cars, shotguns, and joking with all his friends and family.

He spent many dedicated years working as a shop technician in the textiles industry, retiring from Mayfair Mills, where his contributions were valued and respected. He was known for his infectious love of singing, a joy he shared with family and friends, bringing smiles and comfort to those around him.

He leaves behind his cherished spouse, Violet Lurene Pearson Taylor, his sister Faye Turner, and his two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jacob Taylor, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Taylor, three brothers, K.Z., W.C., and Harold Taylor, and a sister, Betty Lee Bryant.

Visitation for Jimmy will be held at Liberty Mortuary on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together to remember and celebrate his rich life. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

May Jimmy’s legacy of love, laughter, and music continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
