James Dodgins

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Larry Dodgins, age 78, who departed this world peacefully on December 24, 2024.

Born on June 13, 1946, in Liberty, South Carolina, James lived a life dedicated to his family, embodying love and care in every moment.  He was a son of the late Rufus Williams and Sarah Eula Kelley Dodgens.

James was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mickey, and a cherished father to his daughter, Debbie Dorsey. He was known not only for his kindness but also for his unyielding dedication to those he loved. Throughout his life, he found joy in the simple pleasures; he adored animals and took pride in nurturing his garden, creating a beautiful sanctuary that mirrored the love he shared with those around him.

James worked as a Produce Associate at Ingles in Seneca. His warm smile and friendly nature touched the hearts of customers and colleagues alike. He was the embodiment of hard work and commitment, always ready to lend a hand and make others feel welcome.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mickey Dodgins, his daughter, Debbie Dorsey (Pete); his beloved grandchildren, Steven Chastain (Sara), Peter Dorsey (Ashley), Jeffrey Dorsey (Kaylee), and James Dorsey.  Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren, Emma, Bailey, Jordan, Joshua, and Jeremiah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters, and four brothers.

Services to celebrate James’s life will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the mortuary.  He will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Westminster Gardens, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro NC 27410.

As we gather to reflect on the beautiful life of James Larry Dodgins, let us carry forward the love he gave so freely, cherishing our fond memories of him and finding comfort in our shared experiences. James’s spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
