Jamie Brooks
Liberty, SC
James Douglas “Jamie” Brooks Sr., beloved brother, father figure, and doting grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born on August 11, 1955, in Pickens, SC, to the late Douglas Columbus and Evelina Moore Brooks. James, known to family and friends as Jamie, resided in Liberty his entire life.
A true lover of the outdoors, he found solace in deer hunting and casting his line into the serene waters while fishing. These pastimes brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature. However, what truly brought him the most happiness was the time spent with his cherished family.
He is survived by his brother Steve Brooks of Liberty; a sister Patricia Gillespie (Dennis) of Anderson, who shared unforgettable memories and countless laughs throughout the years. His loving legacy will continue through his adoring grandchildren, Xander Brooks and Madison Brooks, who will forever remember their grandpa’s warm smile and loving embrace.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Doug Brooks.
Mr. Brooks served his country honorably in the Army, enlisting on September 6, 1973, and reaching the rank of PFC before his discharge on September 19, 1974. His dedication to his fellow soldiers and his patriotism will never be forgotten.
A funeral service to remember and honor Jamie’s life will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Liberty. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the mortuary.
