Mitchell Porter
Easley, SC
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elbert Mitchell Porter, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on January 7, 1960, in Pickens, SC he was a son of the late Elbert Sheridan “Doc” and Peggy Jean Christopher Porter.
He spent most of his adult life in the Easley area, where he became known for his warm spirit and love for his family. He also dedicated many years of his life to Alice Manufacturing, where he worked as a maintenance technician.
A true car enthusiast, he had a particular fondness for Corvettes and could often be found tinkering away in his garage, turning wrenches and reviving engines. Those who knew him experienced his joyful passion for cars, as well as his knack for telling stories and jokes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Lynn Porter, and his two cherished daughters, Carla Buchanan (Stacey) of Travelers Rest, and Cayla Porter of Marietta. He is also survived by his two sisters, Janet Donald of Easley and Tina St. Jean Cox of Powdersville, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Robert, Jayden, Lindsey, and Kristen Buchanan, Logan Wheatley, and Hunter McCarson.
To celebrate and honor Mitchell’s life the funeral service will be held 12:00PM Noon, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In this time of sorrow, may we find comfort in each other and in the beautiful memories we hold dear of a truly remarkable man.
