Donzie McMahan, 57, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Upstate Community Hospice House, in Landrum, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

A dedicated and hard-working man, Donzie was employed by Carolina Handling, where he was respected by his peers for his loyalty, reliability, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Donzie found great joy spending time with his family and in his hobbies and passions. He loved flying RC airplanes and was always on the lookout for model kits to buy, build, and trade. Donzie was known for his kind heart, earnest nature, and easygoing personality. He was the kind of person people naturally liked-someone who was steady, dependable, and genuine.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Wilmot McMahan of Easley, South Carolina; son, Ewan McMahan of Pickens, South Carolina; parents, Bill and Martha McMahan of Cullowhee, North Carolina, and brother, Chonzie McMahan (Jennifer) of Arden, North Carolina.

Donzie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Velma (Wheatley) McMahan and maternal grandparents, Rev. Marion T. and Ressie (Porter) Hudgens.

Per Donzie’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Synovial Sarcoma Foundation at (www.synovialsarcoma.org/donate).

I remember the time Brother Donzie and I took our degree work at Keowee Lodge. Those were meaningful days. What remains with me most is his character and his ever-present smile. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to this precious young man's family!! I never saw him, just knew his mother, her sister and their parents when she was growing ùp! They were extremely good friends and a wonderful family!! I am sorry for this

To his family I am so sorry I di don't get to know him, just his name l. However, I knew his mother and her parents, in addition to her sister when they were growing up. Rev. Hudgens was pastor at Arial Baptist, where my Aunt Ruth & Uncle Lester were members,, East Side lin Liberty. where I grew up. My daddy was a deacon there and he and Rev. Hudgens painted some of the interior of the church together. My parents would go out to eat together after worship. . Those were the years when I was friends with Kathryn and Martha S ue growing up. Later, when I was a member at Rock Springs Baptist in Easley, Rev. Hudgens was my pastor once again.. There has never been a closer pastor and family to my family as yours!! The connection was made again at Easley Baptist Hospital when Donzie was born .. His grandparents saw my parents when my youngest child Bridget was born 4 days after Donzie. I grieve with his entire family and want you to know you are loved and in my prayers!!
