Edwin Dean Sexton, a loving husband, devoted family man, and avid outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital-Downtown. Born in Easley, SC on January 19, 1965, Dean lived a life filled with passion, love, and a deep sense of faith.
Dean’s determination and resilience were truly inspiring. He was always eager to learn and grow, finding joy in his hobbies and embracing every moment spent in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were one of his greatest passions, where he felt a profound connection to nature and found solace in the quietude of the wilderness.
Beyond his love for nature, Dean also had a knack for working on cars. With skilled hands and a curious mind, he enjoyed tinkering and repairing vehicles, often lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors. His dedication to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of those around him.
However, above all else, Dean cherished his faith and his family. His unwavering belief in God provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life. He treasured the time spent with his beloved wife of 34 years, Violet Marie Golden Sexton, and held a special place in his heart for his mother, Patricia Roach Sexton.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sisters, Melinda Morgan(Brian) of Pickens and Tammy Galbreath(Frank) of Salem; five brothers, Terry Scruggs(Joannie) of Easley, Bo Sexton(Carlene) of Pickens, Randy Sexton(Julie) of Liberty, Danny Sexton of Pickens; a very special nephew who he had helped raise, Daniel Sexton of the home; and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.
Dean is preceded in death by his father, Richard Terry Sexton and a brother David Sexton.
In honor of Dean’s life, a visitation service will be held at Open Praise Fellowship on September 29, 2023, starting at 12:30 pm. This will be followed by a heartwarming funeral service at the same location at 2:00 pm, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to celebrate the life of this remarkable man. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
