It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny Lafoy Crawford, who peacefully left this world on August 14, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pelzer, SC on February 17, 1938, he was a son of the late Sidney Levi and Elizabeth Elrod Crawford.

Dan was a hardworking man who dedicated 23 years of his life to serving as a mail carrier for USPS. After retiring, he didn’t slow down one bit – he found joy in taking on various part-time jobs, including working at Mills Auto, Liberty Mortuary, and as a bus driver for Duke Power. One of his true passions was gold prospecting, a hobby that brought him immense happiness. His faith was important to him and he was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, including his beloved spouse of 64 years, Jean Crawford of the home, a son Danny Crawford and his wife Kelli of Anderson, a brother Mike Crawford, granddaughter Samantha Shaw (Chris), and great-grandson Ollie Shaw.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Johnson and Willie Campbell, and two brothers, Bob and Leon Crawford.

In honor of his life and legacy, his funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Landmark Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the church. He will be laid to rest in a private service at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Though he may no longer walk among us, Dan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest easy, Danny Lafoy Crawford. You will be deeply missed.

Jean and Danny, needless to say it was quite the gut punch learning of Dan's passing. He was like a brother from another mother to me. His stamina, kindness and heartfelt passion for his fellow man will always be remembered. Jean, Danny, family We have truly lost an amazing person in our community. Jerry and I met Dan and you Jean over 40 years ago when we moved into neighborhood on Trammel Street. Danny was painting our house. We will never forget the contagious smile that Dan had. Always willing to help in anyway that he could. He will be greatly missed by all who keen him. Was just notified today of Dan's passing. I am so sorry to hear of it and offer my genuine and sincere condolences to Jean and her family, and all his friends. May God grant you all comfort and peace to help you through these difficult times. I have known Dan since HS days and have always admired his friendly attitude and caring personality. He was always a super nice person and was fun and pleasant to converse with. Had not seen him for several years since moving out west, but cannot imagine him changing in any way. Jean, Danny and family part of me is sad for your loss but he is in a much better place than we are. Dan was president of his high school class and a friend to Mary and I. Their high school reunions were a joy to attend and he saw that they were always fun. You folks are in my prayers but cherish the memories. George

So sorry to hear this. Mr. Crawford was a good friend and treated me special as I spent time with the family through my friendship with Danny for over 50 years. I have some fond memories as a kid being with the Crawford family.

Dan was a great friend. We sure will miss him sitting in that seat at church but know he is with Jesus. Prayers
