Born on September 6, 1954, in Anderson, South Carolina, to the late Thomas and Betty Whitlock Minyard. Chris was known for his vivacious spirit and unwavering love for his family. He called Six Mile, SC, home, where he made countless memories with those he cherished most.
Chris dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career in construction with various companies but most recently with Momentum Construction, from which he retired but never truly stepped away from the world of building and creating. He wore many hats, but none more important than being a loving husband to his wife, Gayle Stewart Minyard, and an adoring father to his beloved daughters: Crysti Pilgrim, Tessa Duncan (Derrick) and Lindsay Hamilton (Levi). He leaves behind a legacy of love, guidance, and unforgettable memories. Pa cherished his beloved grandchildren. He leaves behind five grandsons, Hunter Pilgrim (Jordan), Connor Pilgrim, Garrett Duncan, Noah Duncan, Sawyer Hamilton, and one granddaughter, Rowan Hamilton. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Dianne Brown, Cathy Freeman, and Angie Brown, who will carry on his spirit with fond memories of their time together.
As a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Chris carried the values of discipline and camaraderie throughout his life. He enjoyed many passions, including his love for classic cars, particularly Mustangs, and was an avid golfer, often found perfecting his swing at the Boscobel Golf and Country Club. His love for Clemson Football was palpable, and he could always be seen cheering on his team, surrounded by family and friends.
Chris had a zest for life that was evident during his joyous beach trips with his family, where laughter and sunshine blended seamlessly. He was an active member of Gap Hill Baptist Church, serving on the welcoming committee with the same warmth he showed to everyone in his life.
To celebrate Chris’s incredible journey, a visitation will be held at Gap Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, March 8, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
