Charles Milford Satterfield Jr., age 87, of Easley, South Carolina, died peacefully of natural causes on April 29, 2021 at his residence.
He was born on August 19, 1933, in Farmington, West Virginia, the son of the late Charles Milford Satterfield Sr. and Eleanor (Shappek) Satterfield.
Charles earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from West Virginia University (Class of 1955) and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Frostburg State University.
He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He worked as a chemist at Westvaco Co. in Luke, Maryland, and as a consultant with Brown & Root in Houston, Texas, and Jacobs Engineering in Greenville, South Carolina. Charles was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. He loved to sail and fish and was an expert carpenter. He was involved with Boy Scouts as a troop leader for his children and later as a mentor to other Scouts.
A devoted owner of Doberman pinschers, he often adopted senior dogs to ensure they were loved in their final years. Charles was known to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as a champion Uno player.
Charles is survived by four children, Stephen, Joyce, Lisa, and Charles III; two step children, Brenda and Robert; five grandchildren, Alana, Joseph, Lindsay, Lance, and Stacie; and five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Olivia, Virginia, Emilia, and Anna.
His wife, Elizabeth Marie Satterfield, daughter, Anne Oldroyd, and grandson, Taylor, preceded him in death.
The family will honor his request to not hold a funeral service.
