Archie Odell Ranew 74, Jackson, SC passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026 in Pickens, SC due to complications from an accident which occurred in Feb 2026. He was comfortable and cared for by his family and friends .
Born on May 3, 1951 in Aiken SC, Archie was the son of Lester Odell Ranew and Maude “Margie” Bryant Ranew. Archie graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, SC class of 1969. Archie volunteered his service in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Michigan he met his wife Cathy Hill Ranew. They were married in 1973 and spent 43 years together. They had 4 children together. Melanie, Amy, Rose and Lester. Cathy was the best blessing he found in life she kept things running in the family and was such a fun person! Archie retired from Savannah River site as a maintenance mechanic. However, he would have rather been a professional Pool Shark with Red Man tobacco in his back pocket. He also enjoyed baseball and fishing.
Most importantly, in August of 2022 Archie made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. On Aug. 2, 2022 he was Baptized in Clarks Hill Lake by his son in law John Hicks with witnesses present. (Archie would have never called Clarks Hill Strom Thurmond Lake-he was old school).
Archie is survived by his daughters Melanie Moyer (Robert) of Jackson, SC. Amy Robinson (Rodney) of Liberty SC. Rose Hicks (John) of Jackson SC. Grandchildren Sara and Abbi Moyer Jackson SC. Sisters Cindy Washburn (Central, SC) Rachel Duncan (Pickens, SC) along with nieces and nephews.
