Mary Wheeler Vinson, 96, of 123 N. Norris Drive, died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her residence. Born in Habersham County, Georgia, she was the widow of Allie Effird Vinson, Sr. and a daughter of the late John George and Texie Anna Philyear Wheeler. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was retired from Woodside mills and was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Anna Lancaster of Spartanburg and Martha Coley of Rock Hill; three sons, Jessie W. “Dub” Vinson of Easley, John T. Vinson of Pelzer, and Lester Dean Vinson of the home; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two sons, Allie Effird Vinson, Jr. and Virgil P. Vinson; and numerous brothers and sisters.
