Graveside services with military honors to honor the life of Mr. Rice will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery. Rev. David Ellenburg will be conducting the service.
Marshall Leon Rice, 72, of Evergreen Acres Road died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Seneca, he was the husband of Mary Hampton Rice of the home and the son of the late Rev. Fred and Agnes Collins Rice.
After serving in the U.S. Army, he lived most of his life in Cashiers, NC where he owned and operated a Frazier Fir Christmas tree farm and was a bee keeper. He served the Lord faithfully until he became sick and was a member of Morning Star Independent Baptist Church. He had a strong love for Blue Grass music and during his younger years he traveled around to show his passion for gospel music.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Beth Howard of Lincolnton, NC; and several cousins.
