Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September, 23, 2018 at Liberty First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Private burial will be held at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Margaret Bennett Taylor, 93, formerly of Summit Drive in Liberty, passed away peacefully Friday, September 21, 2018 at Clemson Downs. Born in Union County, she was the widow of William Marion Taylor and the daughter of the late James Madison and Louise Hembree Bennett. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Presbyterian College. She retired from the School District of Pickens County and was the Pickens County Teacher of the Year in 1976. She was member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority and was a member of the Liberty Women’s Club where she had served as president. She enjoyed gardening and cooking but most of all she enjoyed her family. She was a long-time member of Liberty First Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann T. Bailey of Liberty and Jane T. Sargent (Phil) of Anderson; three sons, Jim Taylor of Charlotte, David Taylor (Sheila) of Sharpsburg, GA, and Allen Taylor (Connie) of Liberty; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two brothers, W.C. and Hays Bennett; a son-in-law, Hugh T. Bailey, Sr.; a grandson, Vance Marion Bailey and an infant son.
