Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Sargent will be 3:00PM Sunday at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 3:00 until 4:30 PM at the Liberty Mortuary.
Lloyd Leroy “Mutt” Sargent, 95, of 603 Anderson Drive, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born in Liberty he was a son of the late David Seaborn and Leota Whitlock Sargent.
He retired from Woodside Mills and was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Sargent was a lifelong member of East Side Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Henry Gillespie Sunday School Class, and the Golden Gems.
Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Florence Davis Sargent of the home; two sons, Mike Sargent (Lu) of Liberty, and Tim Sargent of Georgetown, TX; a brother, Carl “Tuffy” Sargent (Christine) of Liberty; four grandchildren, Derek Sargent of Liberty, Josh Sargent (LeAnne) of Wake Forest, NC, Lisa Kunitz (Logan) of Austin, TX, and Julie Arguello (Jader) of Nicaragua; 4 great grandchildren, Seth, Nathan, Caroline, and Isabella.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
