Lillie Gantt Young

Lillie Gantt Young, 94, of Greenville, formerly of Decatur, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Oakleaf Village, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Liberty, she was the widow of Arthur R. Young, Jr. and a daughter of the late John J. Gantt, Sr. and Julia Stewart Gantt. She was a 1932 graduate of Liberty High School and was of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian faith.

Throughout her working career she was employed at the Goldsmith 5 & Dime in Liberty, SC, and later worked at Eastman Kodak Stores & Chandler R. Wingfield Company in Atlanta, Georgia. She was an avid gardener and loved all aspects of nature, especially birdwatching.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Price and her husband Leonard of Greenville; a son, Randy Young and his wife Patty of Westfield, NC; a sister, Mary Julia Lathem of Greenville; three grandchildren, Kelley Price Smith and her husband Senter, Julia Price, and Andrew Price; a great grandchild, Canon Smith.

Friends and relatives of Mrs. Young are invited to attend her memorial service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in the chapel at Bonclarken Assembly, Flat Rock, North Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service.
