Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Liberty Mortuary. Private family services for Mr. Cartee will be held at a later date.
John Edsel “Pejoe” Cartee, 85,formerly of Liberty, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Liberty, he was the son of the late Leland Walker and Ollie Belle Crane Cartee. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Liberty and was an avid Clemson fan. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his former wife, Mary L. Cartee of Liberty; a son, John E. “Butch” Cartee, Jr. (Nancy) of Port St. Lucie, FL; two daughters, Jane Foster(Howard) of Greer and Leigh Ann Bates(Bill) of Easley; grandchildren, Erin Honey, Jennifer Moore, Matt Fleming, Caralee Foster, David Foster, Lena Durham and Hank Bates; great grandchildren, Lorelei Honey, Grace Fleming and Cain and Jacob Durham; and his favorite furry friends, J.R., Sam and Dolly.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by five sisters, Virginia Comer, Kathleen Hand, Frankie Timms, Mary B. Cartee and Doris Cartee.
