Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held 3:00 PM Monday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park following the service.
John Earl Brown, Sr., 89, of Kelly Mill Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. Born in Norris, he was the widower of the late Ruby Riggins Brown and the son of the late A.B. and Ella Owens Brown. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired brick mason and farmer and was very active with the Farm Bureau, Cattleman’s Association and Six Mile Water District. He was also a Past Master at Six Mile Masonic Lodge #339, A.F.M. and was a member of Prater’s Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Scales and her husband Larry of Spartanburg and Betty McCord and her husband Pat of Cedar Bluff, AL; a son, John Earl Brown, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Norris; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
