Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Durham will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the mortuary.
Joe Alfred Durham, 66, of 315 Patterson Road, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Six Mile he was a son of the late Hermit I. Durham, Sr. and Ettie Galloway Durham.
He was a retired independent truck driver and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and the Adult Auditorium Sunday School Class. He was an avid race fan, and loved to build dirt racing cars.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Dickson Durham of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Tracey and Phillip Batson and Karen and Johnny Garrett, Sr. all of Greenville; two sons, Randall Durham of the home, and Richard Watson and his wife Rhonda of the Townville; two sisters, Mary Dillard of Easley and Romaine Chappell of Columbia; a brother, Doc Durham and his wife Linda of Pickens; 6 grandsons, Brian S. Watson and his wife Amy of Union Point, GA, Johnny Garrett, Jr. and his wife Kim of Berea, Shane Garrett and his wife Kendall of Berea, Nathan and Dylan Watson both of Townville, and Joey Batson of Greenville; 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, and 4 brothers.
