Jessie Melton Harrison

Funeral services to honor Mrs. Harrison’s life will be 2:30 PM Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:15 PM at the mortuary.

Jessie Melton Harrison, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence. Born in Liberty she was the widow of Rev. Coley J. Harrison and a daughter of the late John and Mae Wardlaw Melton.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Faye Gillespie and her husband Jimmy of the home; two sisters, Velma Burns of Knoxville, and Willie Jane Angus of North Dakota; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dhet Harrison, a son, Lamar Harrison, and a granddaughter, Cathy Stephens.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her caregiver, Doris Smith, for her outstanding love, care, and support during Mrs. Harrison’s sickness.
