Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Merck will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday at Cateechee Baptist Church. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at Cateechee Baptist. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Jennie Patterson Merck, 88, of N. Garrett Street, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Six Mile. Born in Oconee County, she was the widow of Lawrence C. “Boots” Merck and a daughter of the late G.C. and Daisy Dean Patterson. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Cateechee Garden Club. She was also a longtime member of Cateechee Baptist Church where she served as the church organist for over 50 years and was a member of the Helen Frazier Sunday School Class.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Susan Melton(Al) of Liberty and Carol Holliday(Norman) of Six Mile; a sister, Mildred Merck of Six Mile; 3 brothers, Russell Patterson of Florida, Winfred Patterson of Williamston and Dennis Patterson of Liberty; 4 grandchildren, Stacy Powell(Anson), Jason Melton(Jessica), Craig Holliday and Chase Holliday; great grandchildren, Luke and Landen Powell, Jacob Melton and soon to be born, Jonathan Melton.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by 3 sisters, Jessie Thompson, Mozelle Smith and Grace Chapman; and 4 brothers, Hoyt, Cecil, Clayton and Hugh Patterson.
